“RED” The color of passion, the color of love. It’s probably the sexiest color around and when painted on your lips, it’s dynamite
But wearing a red lipstick is also an art…you need to know which shade of red lipstick will suit you? How to apply the red lipstick? And never overdoing the look..
Pale skinned women
Pale skinned women should gravitate toward reds with cool, blue undertones. For example Nicole Kidman
Medium-to-dark skinned women…
Medium to dark skinned women can get away with deeper reds that have brown or tawny bases. In other words, warmer reds. For example Jessica Alba
Darker skinned women…
Darker skinned women can pull off pinkish reds, fuchsias and orange-based poppy reds. For example Beyonce and RihannaTip: To pull off a brighter lip, you need to wear a good 2 coats of mascara (or false eye lashes) and some darker liner to balance it out. You definitely don’t want anything too dramatic on the eyes as it’s overdone, but you need some eye makeup so the lips aren’t screaming “look at me! look at me!”
How to Apply Red Lipstick
Apply a light layer of foundation to your lips. Allow a few seconds to dry.
2. Dust the lips with a layer of powder.
3. Outline lips with lipliner if your lipstick tends to bleed at the edges. Be sure that the pencil matches your lip color.
4. Apply color (with a brush) to the center of your lips first and then brush color out toward the edges. This little rule of thumb will prevent you from applying too much. With the intenseness of the lip color, a thin wash of color is all that is needed.
5. Blot lips with a tissue.
6. Re-apply a second layer of lipstick with your lipbrush. The application of the second layer over a blotted first layer will ensure that your color lasts for hours.
