It makes me really sad to inform you all that the Indian’s precious jewels are now being auctioned off….I know that the royalties could not afford to keep up with their daily expense and sold off the jewels to auction houses..but still these diamonds had a story..history…and are the remarkable pieces of stone.
We lost Kohinoor and now the Pink Diamond and The Star of Kashmir-Blue Sapphire.
The rare pink diamond (34.65-carat) once belonged to the Nizam of Hyderabad and named Princie after a 14-year-old prince of Baroda sold for Rs 200 Crore, becoming the most expensive diamond ever sold at Christie’s. The diamond was discovered 300 years ago in the Golconda mines in India.
The other prestigious Blue Sapphire- The Star Of Kashmir (19.88 carat) was sold this month for Rs 20 Crore. Kashmir blue sapphire is the richest, velvety toned cornflower blue. There is a lazy, saturated quality to the color blue in these gems.
